Important Announcement: TxDLA 2020 Annual Conference in Fort Worth Postponed / "Keep-Connecting" Lunchtime Webinars Scheduled Beginning the Week of March 16-20

Due to the World Health Organization’s declaration of a global pandemic, and the increase of outbreaks in the DFW area, the Texas Distance Learning Association (TxDLA) Board of Directors and staff made the difficult decision today to transition to a streamlined series of immediate virtual webinars, Q&A sessions, and resources relating to academic/business/agency continuity, transitioning from face-to-face to online learning and training, contingency plans, faculty and staff support, student engagement, helpful tools, and to postpone the face-to-face 2020 TxDLA Conference, March 22-25, 2020 in Fort Worth, Texas to protect the health and safety of our members, attendees, sponsors and exhibitors. We understand that the planning and financial investment for attendees, sponsors, exhibitors and presenters is significant. We are grateful for the remarkable confidence you place in us as your host and the loyalty you demonstrate to the TxDLA and the distance learning community.

If you have booked lodging through the Omni or Fairfield or another hotel, your reservation will not be automatically cancelled. To change or cancel your reservation please follow the instructions in your Hotel Reservation Confirmation email.  If you need to speak with someone at the hotel call 888-444-6664.

The logistics of a postponed face-to-face and/or virtual conference are still being discussed. Registration and exhibitor fees already paid will be applied to the postponed conference (face-to-face and/or virtual), as well as to any shorter virtual webinars that TxDLA presents over the coming weeks and months. Those who registered for the Digital Accessibility Certification package will be switched to the virtual spring offering of this same program, or you may choose to move to the summer offering.

Exhibitors and partners will be receiving a separate email about opportunities you will have for engaging with our attendees, members and larger audience. We look forward to and greatly value continuing our partnerships into the postponed face-to-face and/or virtual conference.

Beginning next week (March 16-20) and continuing indefinitely, TxDLA plans to offer multiple one-hour lunchtime “Keep-Connecting” webinars led by distance learning experts providing a toolbox of immediate needs to our members and attendees during this time. While we are devastated that the TxDLA 2020 event will not take place in Fort Worth, we are excited to offer timely and convenient virtual expertise and resources to the distance learning community and to continue to strive toward our mission – to promote the development and application of all forms of distance learning and to implement effective distance learning strategies for Texans and other distance learning practitioners of the global community.

More information about the TxDLA “Keep-Connecting” webinars and how to access those, and to the postponed conference dates will be shared on the "Keep-Connecting" page as soon as it is finalized. Please continue to check that page for updates.

On behalf of the TxDLA Board of Directors and staff, we deeply appreciate your ongoing participation, support and understanding. Please be patient with us as we work to meet the challenges of planning immediate resources for you and to administer the cancellation activities through this unprecedented situation.

Sincerely,

TxDLA Board of Directors and Staff
